Each student account is connected to a personal file space on the University's central computers. That is where you should always save files. This is the only way of being certain that the files are available the next time you want to access them. Your files are accessible regardless of which of the University's computers you have logged onto.
From a Windows computer you find your home directory under "Network Locations". A disc icon next to your user name.
All students get 200 MB disk space on their home directory.
Logon to Helpdesk to see how much space you have left.
If you need more space, i.e. for project work, logon to Helpdesk and place a query for more space.
Each night your files are backed up; the backup is stored for a year. This means that if a file in your personal file space for some reason disappears or is damaged, there is a possibility to obtain the file from the backup.
In order to obtain files which have disappeared or become damaged, place a query withthe IT department using the helpdesk self-service facility.
In the query you need to state:
Content saved on University student computers can disappear at any time. No backup or other archiving is normally done on local discs.
If you want access to your files when NOT at the University (or while connected to the University wireless network) use https://myfiles.student.hh.se
Log on using your student account.
If you have several student accounts, you also have access to several file spaces. It is not possible to have more than one connection between a computer and the file space at the same time, so if you want to copy files between different student accounts you need to log on at https://myfiles.student.hh.se.
