The Vice-Chancellor leads the daily operations of a higher education institution. The Vice-Chancellor is appointed by the government following a proposal from the Board and is appointed for a maximum of six years. However, the position may be renewed up to two times, each for a period of three years. The Vice-Chancellor may have a deputy who has the title Deputy Vice-Chancellor.
"Halmstad University is a dynamic institution with exciting research, interdisciplinary science, innovation as well as a keen interest for the outside world. I look forward to my task and hope to be able to utilise all the energy that is found here. My aim is to strengthen the university's position even further, both locally, regionally, nationally and internationally," says Mikael Alexandersson.
Mikael Alexandersson assumed the position of Vice-Chancellor at Halmstad University the 1st of October, 2011. His term lasts for six years.
