Scientific focus of the position:
Within the field, areas relevant to embedded systems are of particular interest. The University has established strong research activities in parallel computers in embedded systems, and this is now one of the areas where continued development of research strength is expected in order to maintain excellence in international and national collaborations (such as ongoing and forthcoming European projects, the national strategic research initiative ELLIIT, and the applied excellence collaboration ARIES ) as well as in industrial collaborations. The area, which is expected to attract considerable industrial interest also in the future, will be an important research area for Halmstad University in the coming years.
The major part of the employment is intended for research and doctoral education, but teaching and supervising undergraduate and graduate students are also important parts of the employment.
The appointed professor is expected to develop a high-quality funded research program together with colleagues and must be committed to excellence in teaching at both graduate and undergraduate levels.
Candidates must write a research program proposal, including ideas about possible cooperation within our larger research environment focusing on Embedded and Intelligent Systems (EIS). Information about EIS is found on www.hh.se/eis.
Qualifications:
"In order to be considered qualified as a professor within academic areas outside of the performing and visual artistic domain it is necessary for the applicant to demonstrate a record of both scholarly and teaching achievement.
The same weight will be given to the assessment of teaching merits as with the assessment of scholarly achievement." (The Higher Education Ordinance Chapter 4, § 3).
Candidates must have a distinguished record of original research work in computer systems engineering and proven teaching and leadership abilities. The main emphasis in the assessment of the applicant is on scientific skills and productivity. A strong emphasis will also be placed upon pedagogical skills as well as skills to attract research funding and ability to co-operate with industry. In addition, administrative skills as well as skills in developing and leading projects and personnel will be judged as being of high value.
Salary level:
The salary is to be settled by negotiation. The application should include a statement of the salary level required by the candidate.
