Coming to Sweden

How to travel to Halmstad:


When making travel arrangements you can choose to fly either to Kastrup Airport, Copenhagenexternal link (Denmark), Landvetter Airport, Gothenburgexternal link (Sweden) or to Arlanda Airport, Stockholmexternal link (Sweden).  Copenhagen is much closer to Halmstad, and from there you can take the train to Halmstad. Gothenburg is also fairly close, from there you can take a bus or a train to Halmstad.

Stockholm is rather far from Halmstad, but some students may still prefer to arrive in Stockholm.

Make sure to have admission letter ready at the border control together with your passport and residence permit.

From Kastrup Airport

  • Train: travel from "Köbenhavns Lufthavn/Kastrup" to "Halmstad C".
  • Bus: travel from "Kastrup Terminal 2" to "Halmstad Österskans".

From Landvetter Airport

  • Train: Take the Airport Coachexternal link from Landvetter Airport to the Central Station, Nils Ericsson Terminal, downtown Gothenburg. Then you take the trainexternal link from Gothenburg to Halmstad.
  • Bus: Take the Airport Coachexternal link from Landvetter Airport to the Central Station, Nils Ericsson Terminal, downtown Gothenburg. Then you take the busexternal link from Gothenburg, Nils Ericsson Terminal to Halmstad Österskans.

From Arlanda Airport

  • You can take the long distance trainexternal link straight to Halmstad: travel from "Arlanda C" to "Halmstad C".
  • Or you can take the Arlanda Express Trainexternal link or the Airport Shuttleexternal link to Stockholm Central Station. From there you can  take a trainexternal link or a busexternal link directly to Halmstad. Train: travel from "Stockholm C" to "Halmstad C". Bus: travel from "Stockholm Cityterm" to "Halmstad Österskans".

Additional things to bring:


Information material: All international students will be offered an opportunity to present their home university and home country during an international theme day.
Please bring some information material that can be useful for a presentation and/or to hand out.

Attested copies: If you plan to apply for further studies, after your time at Halmstad University, please bring attested copies of your original documentation from your home university. Halmstad University can not attest these for you.

Original documents: If you are going to study for a Master's degree at Halmstad University you have to bring the original Bachelor degree and transcripts as well as the English translation. You need to present the degree to Halmstad University, no later than the registration meeting (also called roll call).

Please Note: When you have completed your Master studies, you have to show the original Bachelor's Degree and Transcripts when you apply for the Master degree or we will not be able to issue the Master's degree.

What to wear:
