Master's Programme (120 credits) in Digital Learning

120 credits

Digitalisation is transforming our daily lives, the labour market and society as a whole. Digital technologies affect the way people of all ages work, study, consume and socialise. This places new demands on teaching and learning at all levels, from pre-school to school, higher education and the workplace. The Master's Programme in Digital Learning addresses these demands and develops your knowledge in how design, organisation and use of IT can contribute to learning.

About the education

Innovative environments, methods and tools

Digital learning refers to the use of digital technologies and resources to facilitate and enhance teaching and learning processes. It includes the use of computers, internet, software, apps and other digital resources to promote learning. Digital learning is used in, for example, pre-school, school, university, healthcare, municipalities, and corporate training programmes to create an interactive and engaging learning environment. This can include everything from online courses and video lessons to interactive simulations and digital assignments. The aim is to use technology to make learning more accessible, effective and customised to the needs of individuals and organisations.

The Master's Programme in Digital Learning aims to meet society's need to ensure access to competence in digital learning in businesses in both the private and public sectors. The programme is unique and innovative in its design and few similar programmes are offered despite the existing demand.

Courses and competencies in focus

The programme gives you the opportunity to develop deeper knowledge of the multidisciplinary nature of the field of informatics and the research conducted in digital learning. A central idea of the programme is to bring together scientific theories and research in different social science areas in order to meet and manage future societal challenges. You will be prepared to work with anything that involves analysing and understanding the opportunities and constraints of digitalisation for learning at individual, group and organisational level. You develop knowledge and skills about how IT can be designed and used to contribute to learning in organisations in the private and public sectors, such as pre-schools and schools, municipalities, healthcare, the cultural sector and the business sector.

Innovative environments and methods

During the first courses you develop an understanding of the field of digital learning from theoretical, conceptual and methodological perspectives. These learnings are then applied to authentic research and development projects in the courses Design for Digital Learning and Ethics, Research Practice in Digital Learning, and in the Degree Project.

During the programme, you have access to the University's creative and innovative laboratory environments such as the Design Studio, the E-Sports Lab, the Health Data Centre (HDC), Leap for Life, FabLab and the Digital Laboratory Centre (DLC). These environments offer the latest digital equipment that you can use to develop new skills in digital learning.

Collaboration opportunities

In several of the programme's courses, you will have the opportunity to meet external actors from the private and public sectors in authentic projects where you can develop your knowledge and skills. This gives you a unique opportunity to build a network with future employers already during your studies and be well prepared for your future profession.
