Get a connection
It is a bit difficult to get a telephone connection of your own if you do not have a Swedish personal identity number and a credit record. If you want to have a connection you have to make a deposit. The deposit is returned when you have notified that you want to close your account and all bills are paid. In addition to this, you have to pay an initial fee, a monthly fee and the cost of your phone calls.
GSM cellular phone
There is an alternative to getting a phone connection if you own a GSM cellular phone. You can either use your GSM connection from home, but that would end up being rather costly, or you can buy a GSM phone card here in Sweden. Costs
These cards normally cost SEK 350, of which you can make calls for SEK 250 and there is no cost for receiving telephone calls while being in Sweden. If you should register your name and phone number after you have bought the phone card, you can make calls for an additional amount of SEK 100. The card can then be re -charged with whatever amount you choose. Phone card or chip?
The GSM cards are available both as an actual card, and as a chip, depending on what type of phone you have. The most common GSM operators are Telia
, Tele2Comviq
and Telenor
. There are also phone cards with which you can phone from all public telephones and make collect calls. The phone cards are available in most shops. Hardly no public phones
There are hardly any coin operated pay phones in Sweden. If you use a prepaid phone card from your home country you will need a Swedish phone card for the public phone. The public telephone charges one credit for making toll free calls within Sweden. +46...
