Health care in Halmstad

If you should fall ill, the first place to turn is to a district healthcare center or private clinic. They treat a range of illnesses, and they also provide health counseling, post-hospital care and help with rehabilitation. District health care centre (vårdcentral)

District health centers serve as a first level of care for patients who have diseases and disorders that are not of direct emergency nature. The nearest district health care centre from Halmstad University is Nyhems vårdcentral, see map to the right.

Dental care

If you have a dental problem you should turn to your nearest District Dental Clinic, which is Folktandvården in Nyhem. Do not forget to bring your insurance documents to the dentist.

Pharmacies

In Sweden pharmacies distribute both prescription drugs and simple remedies, as well as hygiene products. However, medicine is normally more expensive in Sweden; if you use any kind of medicine regularly - bring it with you.

The nearest pharmacy to Halmstad University is "Cura Apoteket" at Ica Maxi next to the University and "Apoteket Hjärtat" at Nyhems Torg, but there is at least six more pharmacies in Halmstad. The pharmacy at the hospital is open on weekends in case of emergency.

Vaccination
