Introduction to the email system at Halmstad University
The University's e-mail system has been designed by Zimbra.
Logging on
Logging on is done via the Internet (web) Firefox and MS Explorer are the web browsers which work fully at the present. You log in by using your user id, making use of the usual password. Students log in at: mail.student.hh.se Members of staff log in at: mail.hh.se
Email address
All new student accounts receive the email address userid@student.hh.se. Previous accounts will receive the new email address userid@student.hh.se. For these older accounts the previous address (userid@stud.hh.se) also works. Staff normally receive an email address with the format firstname.lastname@hh.se. The previous school and departmental-connected email addresses are still functioning until further notice.
Junk e-mail (SPAM)
Spam which is detected by the system is placed in a folder marked ´Spam´. As all automatic filtering of messages involves a risk for errors, one should regularly look through the spam folder.
Automatic sorting
Messages in the folders marked 'Papperskorg' ('Trash') and 'Spam' ('Junk') are automatically deleted after 100 days. It is not possible to retrieve these messages after this time has elapsed.
Language
The system supports the use of English and Swedish. The language of the web browser can be selected. The 'help' function is only available in English.
Re-directed email / automatic reply
Re-direction of messages and automatic reply (messages of absence) are activated in the e-mail system. Go to 'Inställningar' ('Set-up') --> 'Email'.
