Course description
The course aims for the student to acquire knowledge and skills within the theory of Lie algebra, especially with regards to how the theory is used to solve differential equations.
Upon completion of the course the student shall be able to:
define and present properties of Lie algebras, especially nilpotence, solvability, and semisimplicity
explain and discuss different Lie algebra representations
apply Lie algebras in computer algebra
present the structure theorem of algebras
apply Lie algebra in solution of differential equations
Language of instruction
Teaching is in English.
Prerequisites and conditions of admission
Mathematics 60 credits, of which at least 7.5 credits must involve analysis, mathematical statistics and differential equations.
