December 19 Seminar with Professor Orazio Mirabella, University of Catania, Italy Research in wireless communication and industrial applications at the University of Catania.
The presentation will cover all or some of the following topics, which all refer to wireless communication and are correlated by the industrial applications.
A - Clock synchronization in PANs: some experiences with Bluetooth and 802.15.4 networks.
B - Throughput management for Long Distance full duplex wireless links: Strategies based on a Sliding window protocol . Results and open issues.
C - Token based strategies for industrial wireless Backbones: wireless token ring and token bus: possibilities and open issues
D- A virtual testbed for e-learning and research on QoS for hybrid wired-wireless networks.

November 13 Christer Fernström talked about the research at Xerox
Christer Fernström is employed by Xerox Research Centre Europe, Grenoble, and he coordinates the research of the three Xerox research sites: Palo Alto CA, Rochester NY, and Grenoble France.
He is also the chairman of the international reference group of CERES.

Friday October 3 Klaus Kollreider defended his ph.d. thesis.

Friday, October 3 Dr. Gerasimos Potamianos from IBM T.J. Watson Research Center, Yorktown Heights, NY, USA, gave a lecture
Title: Far-field Multimodal Processing in Smart Spaces.
After the lecture there was an opportunity of discussion with him. Dr. Potamianos also was the faculty opponent in the PhD defense of of Klaus Kollreider the same day.
Wendesday October 1st, Dr. L. Knippschild gave a lecture.
The title of the talk was:
Interdisciplinary Research and Development Alliances as a Tool for Technical Innovation Processes

Kl. 10:30 i E217 höll professor Bo Thidé från Uppsala universitet ett seminarium om en fysikaliskt banbrytande metod att överföra information på en radiokanal. Metoden skulle kunna medge bättre avbildande interferometri i radartillämpningar samt effektivare radiokommunikation.

The international workshop was arranged by the Media IT research group at Halmstad university.
