EIS - Halmstad Embedded and Intelligent Systems Research

The School of Information Science, Computer and Electrical Engineering is a research intense division and the research is done within Halmstad Embedded and Intelligent Systems Research environment (EIS)

The power of partnership.  University and industry in Sweden

See the French film-maker Phil Bouchers' documentary film about how academia co-produce research in co-operation with the industry. The film was on the French TV at the end of 2012.

The objective of EIS is to provide knowledge (solutions, theories, methods, tools) relevant to the creation of innovative IT products and services, ranging from enabling technologies, via systems solutions and applications, to value-adding IT use. By this, EIS is intended to increase the competitiveness of Swedish industry. Through our joint competences we can be an attractive partner and deal with projects where the whole range is treated, from enabling technologies, like low-power technologies and semiconductor sensors, to value-adding IT use, considering user aspects. In between, system and application aspects are treated, e.g. intelligent algorithms, application-specific computer architectures and efficient interconnection technologies. Rather than covering everything, we are focusing on cooperating embedded systems for intelligent applications.

Our strategy is to focus on a limited number of application areas in which we get recognized by industry and society as a key player and natural cooperation partner. Currently, the selected application areas are: health technology, traffic and transport systems, process industry, high-performance signal processing applications, experience industry, together with the (non-application) area of ground breaking electronics.

Embedded and intelligent systems research, ranging from enabling technologies, via systems solutions and applications, to value-adding IT use.

The School of Information science, Computer and Electrical engineering is organized in 4 labs, mentioned below. Together the research done within these labs form the EIS research environment.

Many of the staff origin from other countries. Presently 19 nations are represented within the research.
