At the end of August, Miljödata – the provider of the rehabilitation system Adato, which is used by Halmstad University – announced that the company had been subjected to a cyberattack, raising concerns that sensitive personal data might have been leaked or stolen. Miljödata has now confirmed that Halmstad University is not among the organisations whose data have been compromised.

“The confirmation from Miljödata was long-awaited, though we sympathise with the organisations that have been more severely affected. Even though, according to Miljödata, no data from us have leaked, the incident serves as a reminder of the importance of strong safeguards for personal data. We will now review whether there is anything we can do to further strengthen security in our own routines”, says Marie Andersson, Head of Human Resources.

Halmstad University has reported the incident to the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection (IMY). Miljödata has reported the attack to the police and states that the company has taken measures to limit the attack and further strengthen the security of the system.
