Postgraduate studies

As a doctoral student, the student is engaged in postgraduate studies with the aim of education resulting in a PhD and / or Licentiate degree. The Licentiate degree is an independent exam or a recognised level leading to a doctoral degree, and normally requires two years of full-time studies. To obtain a doctoral degree requires four years of full-time studies. In practice, it takes longer to complete the education, as a doctoral student also tends to participate in other work such as teaching

Postgraduate studies at Halmstad University

Since 2010, the University has the right to issue licentiate- and doctoral degrees in two fields: Information Technology and Innovation Science. The University has also plans to submit an application in a third field, Health and Lifestyle.The first doctoral student was admitted at Halmstad University in June 2011.

There are also doctoral students at Halmstad University who are registered at other universities/institutes but who are employed at the University. Several of these are supervised by researchers at the University. At Halmstad University in Sweden, there are about 80 doctoral students in a variety of subjects/fields.
 
Information Technology
Within the field of information technology, there is initially postgraduate studies in two subjects: Computer Science and Engineering and Signals and Systems Engineering. Postgraduate studies in information technology is led by the research environment EIS. Read more about the studies here.
