Exploring Business in China

Halmstad University, in collaboration with Shanghai Dianji University, can now offer an eight-week study programme in Shanghai, focusing on business culture, being innovative, as well as business model innovation. How can you explore the possibilities of doing business in China? You need to know and understand both how China and Chinese business life works.

By taking this programme, you will get an insight in how to create business in China, feel the pulse of both business and life in China with a special focus on Shanghai, which is probably one of the most dynamic cities of the world. You will also experience Chinese culture, their politics, and their history. Furthermore, you will study Mandarin and meet the industry through science parks and company visits.

You will make contacts in business, science parks as well as in academia and find friends for life. So, do you want to find your future business partners by undertaking the course Exploring Business in China where theory and practice creates opportunities?

The Study Programme

The study programme is built of the two courses:

  • Doing Business in China – Fundamentals in understanding the Chinese business context, 7.5 ECTS, and
  • Technology Management and Innovation in China, 7.5 ECTS

Every week you will:

  • Have lectures, seminars, and workshops.
  • Visit industries – both Chinese and Western companies – science parks,
    incubators as well as free trade zones in the Shanghai area.
  • Learn the fundamental aspects of the Chinese language i.e. Mandarin.
  • You will be given the opportunity to explore the rich, Chinese culture, learn about history through cultural events and, at the same time, making Chinese friends for life.
  • Three/four days a week you will stay at Shanghai Dianji University campus, and three/four days a week you will stay in the centre of Shanghai.

SEK 51,500 ≈ USD 5,900
(Tuition fee is only for students registered outside EES.)

NB! The number of places is limited.

Admission to the Programme is as follows:

  • Bachelor degree
  • English course 6 in the Swedish educational system.
  • TOEFL, Internet based – score of 20 (scale 0–30) in written test, total score of 90.
  • TOEFL, Paper bases – score of 4.5 (scale 1–6) in written test, total score of 575.
  • IELTS Academic test, in total 6.5 points and no lower than 5.5 on any part of the test.
