Selected Projects

Ecosystem functioning: Interactions between biodiversity, species composition and ecosystem functioning in constructed wetlands
Pollutant retention: Reliable pollutant retention estimates for wetlands: A new approach.
Experimental wetlands: Nutrient retention, biogeochemical processes, and the coupling between biodiversity and ecosystem functioning are investigated in an experimental wetland area incorporating 18 wetland units in which water depth, hydraulic load, nutrient load and vegetation composition are controlled.
The WETEFF projectTowards recommendations for design, operation and monitoring of constructed wetlands for treatment of effluents from Sewage Treatment Plants (STP) in the Baltic region (WETEFF)
The WETEFF project is a one-year seed project financed by the Swedish Institute. The project leader is Sylvia Waara at the Wetland Research Center, Halmstad University, Sweden. The project runs from the 1st of March 2013 to the 28th of February 2014. Contact:
