Thorsteinn Rögnvaldsson, Pro Vice-Chancellor of Halmstad University, has chosen to leave this appointment by July 1 this year, one year before his appointment actually expires. He will continue his work as director of the Knowledge Foundation Environment, called Research for Innovation, and now as ordinary director, and will also manage the Center for Applied Intelligent Systems Research (CAISR). His successor will primarily be recruited within Halmstad University.
– Being both Pro Vice-Chancellor and acting director of Research for Innovation, I have had no time to do research, says Thorsteinn Rögnvaldsson. I never planned to stay longer than my two assignment periods as Pro Vice-Chancellor, and now I look forward to spending more time on CAISR and with the PhD students. We are in an important phase of alteration of generations and a huge expansion in the AI area (Artificial Intelligence).
– It is Thorsteinn himself who has asked to leave his assignment. I regret this, since he has done an excellent job contributing to the development of the University’s research. At the same time, I understand his choice to prioritize. It is also of great strategic importance to have a strong leadership at the Knowledge Foundation Environment during its last four years, says Vice-Chancellor Stephen Hwang.
At its next meeting, the University Governing Board will decide on the recruitment process for the next Pro Vice-Chancellor, a person who is normally recruited within the University.
