Halmstad University masteral student Anastacia Simonchik is among the 2014 awardees for the Global Swede award.
Anastacia, who hails from Belarus, has been taking her Master’s degree in Innovation and Business Development at Halmstad University. She is the University’s representative among 24 foreign students who are being lauded by the Global Swede Program. The Global Swede award, a collaboration between the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and the Swedish Institue, recognizes foreign students who honor both Sweden and their homelands through their achievements in and contributions towards innovation and entrepreneurship.
For the past two years, she has distinguished herself by passing most of her courses with flying colors. Her studies culminated in her Master’s thesis on “Attitude Towards Lean,” co-authored with Niklas Göthberg. This thesis, a study on improving workflow, won second prize as well as 25,000 SEK in the national Master thesis contest for facility management.
As a Global Swede winner, Anastacia will represent the best of both worlds. The program was conceptualized with the idea that these students will be active ambassadors for Sweden in the fields of business and innovation, extending Sweden’s reach and influence across the world.
