Halmstad University’s new entrance – an eye to the world

The new main entrance to Halmstad University was inaugurated today. It gives better access to the University and, together with the new café, creates a unique meeting place.

– This is a great day. 25 years ago, Halmstad University moved here, and there has not been a main entrance since. But now it is finally in place. The entrance is an eye to the world, said Vice-Chancellor Mikael Alexandersson who lead the inauguration.

The new café, Kafé Framkanten ("Café Forefront"), is adjacent to the main entrance. Mikael Alexandersson emphasised that the combined effect of the entrance and the café will create a gathering place for meetings between staff, students and visitors. Such a thing has not existed at the University before in this form.

The turnout was great, when the new entrance was opened.

The student Dan Bergström (in yellow shirt) was the one who came up with the name Kafé Framkanten.

Vice-Chancellor Mikael Alexandersson was the one who cut the ribbon and lead the inauguration of the new entrance.

"The entrance is an eye to the world," said the Vice-Chancellor Mikael Alexandersson.

Kafé Framkanten is a welcome addition to the campus.
