Rebuilding of main entrance and buildings around the glass corridor

The next phase of rebuilding around the campus area is starting. This week, the rebuilding of the main entrance and the intended future café next to it will begin. The cash dispenser outside will be shut tomorrow, Thursday April 23, and will be discontinued.

The main entrance will be closed shortly and other entrances to the buildings will have be used instead. During daytime, the entrance to Trade Center can be used, and in evenings and on weekends other entrances to the buildings around the glass corridor will have to be used. From the week starting May 4 until the middle of August, there will also be other rebuilding work going on in the buildings around the glass corridor.

On C1 (building C, first floor) the empty offices are being prepared to receive parts of the new department for education and student support. On E1 and F1, the premises are being adapted for lab activities at the School of Information Technology and for the Centre for Health Technology Halland, which is moving into the Student Healthcare Centre's previous offices. There is also rebuilding to house the Student Union in the offices in the glass corridor where the company Maxkompetens was previously housed.

– Naturally the building work will cause disruption in the form of closed passageways, noise and littering, but at the same time we've tried to minimise the inconvenience by doing as much as possible during the summer break. We hope that everyone will be understanding that this has to be done in order for us to eventually have even better and more adapted premises, says Mats Lyberg, head of the Technical and Estate Management Department.

The building works are a collaboration between the University and the property manager, Harry Sjögren AB. The goal is that all affected departments will have moved before the start of term at the end of August.
