The overall objective of monitoring and quality assurance of postgraduate education in innovation science is to create and maintain an internationally competitive doctoral degree in the subject, to thereby prepare graduate students for advanced tasks for research purposes in universities, public administration and the business community
To ensure this goal, a multiplicity of instruments for monitoring and quality assurance, which are described in detail below.
For each graduate student appointed a supervisor. The supervisor must hold at least an associate professor and shall normally be employed at Halmstad University. The main supervisor is responsible for the doctoral student's education and thesis follows the national and local rules and guidelines, as well as the level of quality set by the international research community.
During the doctoral student's first year in graduate education should also be appointed at least one assistant supervisor. The supervisor proposes who or what will be the assistant supervisor.
Supervisor's overall mission is to individual and group support and provide advice to the student and help establish goals during the thesis work phases. The supervisors should also be of assistance in identifying and discussing problems in the thesis. Indicative of supervisors' overall effort will be to develop the doctoral student's ability to take independent decisions in the research. Supervisors should also work for the guidelines outlined in the student's Individual Study Plan (ISP) until the thesis is completed.
All students must have an individual study. It is the student's and
supervisor's joint responsibility to ensure that the curriculum is
current and updated. The supervisor shall also ensure that the
individual study plan is updated once a year.
The student's work will be monitored regularly during graduate studies. The supervisor is responsible for convening regular supervisory meetings with the student.
Course credits and points for completed work shall be entered in the individual study plan.
A follow-up of the doctoral student's work situation to be made by the director of studies once a year. Indicative of these appraisals is the doctoral student's study plan. When these calls are also discussed how the doctoral student experience working environment and social aspects of the thesis, the research environment and the section.
Adjacent to a doktorsavhandlings final seminar will dissertation discussed at a college professor. On this occasion, all the professors and associate professors in the research environment the opportunity to provide comments on the dissertation.
För att examineras krävs att avhandlingen granskas av en opponent och godkänns av en betygsnämnd i samband med disputationen. Betygsnämnden består normalt av tre ledamöter med lägst docentkompetens.
För att få såväl doktors- som licentiatexamen ska doktoranden också ha godkänts på samtliga erforderliga kurser inom ramen för forskarutbildningen.
