Computer Systems Engineering II

7,5 credits

The course provides the student with the opportunity to acquire extended knowledge of the principles which can be applied in work involving advanced low level programming close to hardware.

The course offers the student extended depth of subject knowledge in the developmental work relating to embedded computer systems. The student should following successful completion of the course be in a position to construct simpler operative systems as well as having acquired knowledge of the programming techniques and basic concepts relating to operative systems. Following completion of the course, the student should be able to demonstrate the ability to evaluate different technical solutions, plan and independently implement technical developmental work in the area. Present, orally and in writing, different solutions in dialogue form and finally understand when the methods and principles presented in the course are applicable.

Following completion of the course, the student should have acquired knowledge relating to the use of simpler operative systems in embedded computer systems. After successful completion of the course, students should on their own initiative be in a position to develop advanced software for smaller embedded systems from a given specification. Students can use operative system functions to solve smaller applications. Finally the student should be able to make use of working methodologies for the development and documentation of these systems.
