High Frequence Electronics

The objectives of this course is for students to assimilate knowledge of passive components and semiconductor devices and specifically their high frequency characteristics with a focus on modern integrated electronics.

The course deals with the crystal structure of semiconductors and important semiconductor devices, such as, bipolar transistors (BJT, HBT) and field effect transistors (MOSFET, MESFET, pHEMT), PIN diodes, varactor, Schottky diode, tunnel diode, IMPATT and Gunn diode. Component structure, function and applications. Packaging and assembly including EMC aspects.
