To Work as an Applied Sport Psychologist, Group and Individuals

30 credits

Firstly, the course aims for the student acquiring a broad orientation in models and theories about applied sport work. These models and theories describe intervention strategies for effective psychological counselling with clients, whether these are individuals, teams, and even groups outside the immediate sports environment. Moreover, effective communication within multi-disciplinary teams and with clients in general in the psychological counselling process is considered.

Secondly, the course aims at developing the student's most relevant skills in applied sport, exercise and performance psychology for a future professional career in, or related to the subject area in question. Specific focus will be on developing the basics of effective documentation, and actual implementation and development of intervention work. Overall, the aim of this course is to prepare the student to independently initiate, implement and evaluate a sports psychological and/or performance–oriented counselling situation with given relevant target groups.
