Halmstad University recruits new programme managers for the focus areas

Halmstad University has two university-wide, multidisciplinary focus areas: Health Innovation and Smart Cities and Communities. The University is now strengthening its organisation by recruiting two new programme managers in connection to the current programme managers' assignments expiring this summer.

“The new programme managers will contribute to the continued development of the University's research, education, and collaboration. We are in an intensive period of developing our research, and we need to recruit more researchers who want to lead larger initiatives. In this, their competence and experience will be important”, says Thorsteinn Rögnvaldsson, Deputy Vice-Chancellor with specific responsibility for research and doctoral education.

Focus areas for profiling

For the past ten years, Halmstad University has had the privilege of being a Knowledge and Competence Center, which has meant special support from the Knowledge Foundation to develop and strengthen the University's profile. At the turn of the year 2021/2022, the Knowledge and Competence Center came to an end, and from then, the University is profiled within the two focus areas Health Innovation and Smart Cities and Communities.

“The function of the focus areas is to link research and education more clearly to societal challenges and to promote multidisciplinarity. The research strategy process that the University carried out in 2021 showed that the focus areas have been good initiatives and that their specialisations are interesting and relevant. The new programme managers will have the task of, together with the University's researchers and management, continuing the development of that profiling, says Thorsteinn Rögnvaldsson, and concludes:
