I did my PhD in theoretical physics at Lund University and switched to computer science during my postdoc at the Oregon Graduate Institute in the United States. I have worked at Halmstad University in Computer Science since 1996. I have been, between 2006 and 2010, full professor of mechatronics at Örebro University. I have worked at some startups and also with R&D at Volvo Technology (2009-2010).
My research interest is learning computer systems in a broad sense, applied to diverse application areas, but mostly vehicles and health technology products. My current main research theme is self-organizing and learning for knowledge creation. This is applied to build self-monitoring systems. This is a long-term research program I am conducting together with companies, mostly Volvo (the truck company). I am, since 2012, founder and manager of the CAISR research center in Halmstad and, since 2013, also pro-vice-chancellor for Halmstad University.
