HighFive’s Hackathon with HFAB
Do you, as a student, want to tackle real societal challenges?
HighFive, together with HFAB and FabLab at Halmstad University, invites you to a 24-hour Hackathon where you’ll dive into a world of creative problem-solving, collaboration, and innovation.
This year’s theme focuses on the future of water use — a challenge that is both urgent and important. Halmstad is a city deeply connected to the sea and water, but climate change and dry summers mean access can no longer be taken for granted. HFAB, Halmstad’s public housing company, aims to find new ways to reduce water consumption in its properties without compromising comfort for tenants — and that’s where you and your team come in.
For 24 hours, side by side with students from different schools, you’ll develop ideas, concepts, and solutions. Working across disciplines opens the door to new perspectives — and it’s precisely there, at the intersection of different skills, that innovation happens.
How you choose to solve the challenge is entirely up to you — it could be through digital tools, behavioral changes, or new ways of thinking about resource use.
Thinking:
– “I can’t code, this probably isn’t for me…”
We say:
– Yes, it’s exactly for you!
This isn’t just about technology — it’s about creativity, collaboration, and the courage to think differently. Whether you study nursing, economics, communication, engineering, or design, your perspective, experience, and drive are needed.
During the 24 hours, you’ll:
- Form a team and pitch your idea to a jury
- Meet new people and challenge your way of thinking
- Get the chance to make a real difference for Halmstad’s future
A jury will be on site to select the winners – but the most important part isn’t the prize. It’s the experience, the energy, and the unexpected connections that make it truly special.
Because when people meet, that’s when things really happen.
When: December 5–6, Friday–Saturday, 15.00–15.00
Where: FabLab, Halmstad University
