Digital teaching guidelines
On this page you can find information on which rights and possibilities you have when it comes to digital teaching and streaming via digital tools such as Zoom and Blackboard Collaborate.
Camera or no camera
An easy way to create a pleasant study environment and presence during digital teaching sessions is to have the camera running. The fact that you can see each other helps both yourself, your classmates and your teacher.
For elements that are not mandatory, you can choose your own preference. If you choose to use the camera, it will be more personal and similar to meeting on campus in a lecture hall. From a study technique perspective, it is also easier for you to learn if you can interact with others and ask questions directly.
In case of mandatory elements, you must follow the University rules and cannot choose whether to use the camera or not. Read more about the differences below.
Streaming or recording of non-mandatory teaching elements
- You can choose if you want to have the camera or microphone turned on, your teacher cannot demand that you have the camera running if you do not want to. (The microphone must of course be on if you want to say something).
- If the lecture will be recorded, the teacher must clearly announce when the recording starts and ends.
- For your own sake (and that of your relatives) – use a neutral background and make sure that no personal items are visible behind you. Avoid photos etc.
Supervision of written exams or streaming of other mandatory elements
You must receive information in advance about how the University processes your personal data when streaming.
In addition, the following applies in order for supervision / streaming to take place:
- The teacher must justify in advance why supervision / streaming is necessary.
- The supervision / streaming is necessary to ensure legal certainty.
- Other alternatives that are less intrusive are not applicable.
- If your personal ID is being checked prior to an exam, this procedure must not be recorded and must be done in a way that secures that no other person than the teacher/ invigilator can see your personal details.
Note! Remember to use a neutral background and make sure that no personal items are visible behind you. Avoid photos etc.
Recording of mandatory teaching elements
You must always receive information in advance about how the University processes your personal data during recording.
In addition, the following must apply for a recording to be made:
- The course coordinator must justify in advance why recording is necessary.
- The recording is necessary to ensure legal certainty.
- Other alternatives that are less intrusive are not applicable.
- If your personal ID is being checked prior to an exam, this procedure must not be recorded and must be done in a way that secures that no other person than the teacher/ invigilator can see your personal details.
- The teacher must clearly announce when the recording starts and ends.
Note! Remember to use a neutral background and make sure that no personal items are visible behind you. Avoid photos etc.
Once a recording has been made, it is saved for two years from the date of recording. If nothing else is agreed, only the course coordinator has access to the recording.
