To be successful in your studies, it is important to feel at ease with your lifestyle in general. As a student, there are many opportunities to make new friends. Sharing experiences, studying together and socialising often has a positive effect on both study results and overall health.
Just Join – free activities on and outside of campus
Student Support together with the Student Union organise a series of events called ”Just Join” during every semester. The activities involve anything from a hiking trip to one of the city's beautiful nature reserves to a game night in one of the student accomodations. The aim of the events is to offer a place for students to meet and explore the city and campus together. No registration is needed, you are welcome to just join.
Get involved in a student association
Involvement is a big part of life as a student. Getting involved in social activitites does not only lead to new friendships but is also a valuable addition to your resume, as you are building your future career. Halmstad University is characterized by an entrepreneurial spirit which is reflected in the amount of students associations and groups available for students to join. Below we have listed a few of the associations suitable for international students.
UFO
You might have heard of the popular Lapland trips? UFO is the organisation behind this and many more events, excursions, parties and trips for international students. UFO also organises the buddy programme where you sign up to be matched with a student with a different nationality to exchange cultural knowledge and language skills.

Fab Lab Student
Hang out with other creative minds in this prototype workshop where you can turn your wild ideas into reality. With access t oinnovative equipment such as 3D printers and laser cutters, you can create anything from study related prototypes to birthday gifts for friends and family.
HSIF
Sports is a great way to connect with new people! HSIF organizes events to promote physical activities among the students, with the aim to connect students from various programmes and schools. HSIF also arranges the yearly soccer tournament, Student League.

Köörmit
Singing is universal and the student choir attracts many international students every year. This association is highly connected to various events organised by the University, such as graduation ceremonies, traditional holiday celebrations etc. The choir organises two concerts per year, open to the public.

Represent your country during International Day
On November 27, Halmstad University organises International Day. The glass aisle will turn into a cultural marketplace where our students present some of their cultural traditions and specialities. We are looking for students who want to participate during the day, and this is a great opportunity to get acquainted with international and Swedish students.
”It’s a lot of fun to be part of a student association! Through our engagement in HSIF, we have gained a lot of experience which will be a valuable addition to our CV's.
