Student hub remains open
At the beginning of the year, a student hub was opened on Brogatan 20 in the city center where you as a student can hang out with friends, study or take part in fun activities. After a first test period in the spring, it was decided, after the summer, that the hub will remain open.
The student hub, called Studenthuben, is a 350 square meter meeting place for students where you can, among other things, study, hang out with friends, play games or attend workshops or lectures and other activities. The hub is run by Halmstad Student Union.
Now the decision has been made that the student hub will remain open until October 1, 2025 to begin with, and then be evaluated for the future.
“We see potential with the student hub and want to see how far we can get with it. We didn’t think that the period before was enough to really test the concept. We wanted a longer period where we can really invest in doing activities and really get the students into the city centre”, explains Halmstad Student Union’s President Felicia Jakobsson.
At the hub, known as the students’ living room in the city centre, is a place to study or just hang out.
Now, students are able to use their access card to enter the hub. If you have an access card from Halmstad University, you can visit the student hub whenever you want Monday to Friday 08.00 to 18.00, in addition to the times when the student hub is open for, for example, a workshop or lecture.
“You can come there whenever you feel like it. For example, if an association wants to have a lecture, or if you want some type of evening activity, you get in touch with me via email or contact Studenthuben on Instagram”, says Felicia Jakobsson.
More about the student hub
The hub is located on Brogatan 20 in Halmstad. It has been developed within Halmstad Heart Student, in collaboration with Berlings Fastigheter and Halmstad City.
In the collaboration Halmstad Heart Student, Halmstad Student Union, Halmstad University and Halmstad Municipality work together to create a good study period for the University’s students.
