Injuries and risks
Here you can find information on what to do if you have been in an accident on the University premises, or during a work placement, or if a serious incident was narrowly avoided.
If you have been involved in an accident, or an incident that could have gone wrong but ended well, in connection with your studies or during an internship/work placement (VFU), you must report the incident via helpdesk.
Accidents that occur while travelling to or from your studies or work placement should also be reported (called travel accidents).
Why it is important to report:
- If you are injured, you may be entitled to compensation through your accident insurance with Kammarkollegiet.
- Your report will be used to investigate whether any measures can be taken to prevent the same thing from happening to someone else.
What should be reported
If you have experienced any of the below, we advice you to make a report via helpdesk.
- Accidents/injuries, for example needlestick injuries, falls, cuts or the like.
- Travel accidents are accidents that occur to or from the University or internship/work placement (VFU).
- Violence and threats of violence must always be reported regardless of whether you have been injured or not.
- Illness, that is: diseases that occur after long-term effects such as allergies or stress injuries, physical as well as mental.
It is also important that you make the University aware of any risks you have identified and report incidents that could have gone wrong but ended well (called near misses).
How to report injuries and risks
If you have experienced any of the above, we advice you to make a report via helpdesk.
- Log in to Helpdesk, create a new case and choose the heading "Report incident" and then the category "Other".
- Describe what have happened (when, where and how?).
- When you have made a report you will be contacted by the University's Environment and Security coordinator, that handles your report in a dialog with a work environment representative and representatives from your educational programme. (Make sure to monitor the inbox of the email address that you entered when you made the report).
You are insured during your studies
As a student at Halmstad University you are covered by an accident insurance from Kammarkollegiet that is valid when you are at the University and when you travel to and from the University.
