Surveys in education
Students’ experiences and views are an important part of Halmstad University’s work to develop and assure the quality of its education. Through various surveys, the University gains valuable information about how students experience their education, from the time they begin their studies at the University to the period after graduation.
The surveys are one of several tools for student influence and contribute to an ongoing dialogue between students and the University. The results are used as a basis for developing the content of education, forms of teaching and learning environments.
Course evaluations
At the end of each course, a course evaluation is conducted in which students are given the opportunity to provide feedback on the course content, structure and delivery. Course evaluations are a central part of quality assurance and form the basis for course analyses used in the continued development of courses.

Student ambassador models
To strengthen student participation in the development of education, the University uses different student ambassador models. In each course, a number of students are appointed as course ambassadors who act as a link between students and teaching staff. They contribute feedback both during and after the course, creating an open dialogue and improving the quality of course evaluations.
Before the start of each semester, the programme director, together with the teaching team, decides which model will be used: course ambassadors, semester ambassadors, academic-year ambassadors, or a locally developed model within the programme.
Recruitment survey
The Recruitment Survey (Rekryteringsenkäten) is conducted among new programme students at the start of the semester and provides the University with information about students’ backgrounds, their reasons for choosing the programme and how they learned about the University. The results are used, among other things, in work relating to student recruitment and the reception of new students.
Final-year survey
The Final-Year Survey (Sistaårsenkäten) is aimed at students who are completing their programme and explores their experiences of the programme as a whole and their time as students at Halmstad University. The results are used to identify strengths and areas for development in the University’s education.
Alumni survey
Approximately two years after graduation, the University follows up with former students through the Alumni Survey (Alumnenkäten). The purpose is to gain knowledge about alumni experiences, for example whether they are working in a field related to their education and what recommendations they have for the further development of the programmes. The survey has been conducted since 1988 and provides a long-term perspective on the University’s education.
