Publishing information

By publishing in the series, your work will be made freely available online. Halmstad University Press is responsible for publication and provides support throughout the publishing process. As an author, you retain the rights to your work while benefiting from a long-term publishing platform.

All publications in Halmstad University Publications are published in full text in DiVA (the Digital Academic Archive) in accordance with the University’s guidelines. Halmstad University Press, the University’s publisher, is responsible for publication and for the delivery of electronic legal deposit copies in accordance with the Swedish Act (2012:492) on legal deposit copies of electronic material.

Authors are responsible for any costs associated with the production of the publication.

Publications in the series are not subject to external peer review. Authors are therefore responsible for ensuring the academic quality of their work.

Guidelines for publishing in the series

  1. To publish in Halmstad University Publications, contact Halmstad University Press at hup@hh.se.
  2. Halmstad University Press assesses whether the manuscript is suitable for inclusion in the series.
  3. Once the decision to publish has been made, publication terms are sent to the corresponding author(s). By signing, the author(s) accept these terms and grant Halmstad University Press a non-exclusive licence to make the work available online. The terms must then be e-signed and returned to hup@hh.se.
  4. After receiving the signed terms, Halmstad University Press assigns an ISBN to the electronic version of the publication. If a printed version is requested, a separate ISBN may also be assigned. This is specified when signing the publication terms.
  5. The author is responsible for ensuring that the publication meets accessibility requirements. Halmstad University Press provides a template which should be used.
  6. The Press conducts a final check of the publication prior to release.
  7. The final publication must be uploaded to DiVA in full text.
  8. If printed copies are requested, the author is responsible for ordering and printing. The printer submits legal deposit copies to the National Library of Sweden and six university libraries in accordance with current legislation. The author must also provide one copy to the University Library. The costs for this are covered by the author.

Publication terms

To publish through Halmstad University Press (HUP), one or more corresponding authors must be designated for the publication. At least one of them must be employed by Halmstad University.

The corresponding author is responsible for:

  • ensuring that all co-authors are familiar with the publication terms
  • collecting the names, institutional affiliations, and email addresses of all authors

The publication terms are available in both Swedish and English on the website. Once all the required information has been collected, it is sent to hup@hh.se, after which Halmstad University Press prepares an electronic signature document and sends it to the corresponding author(s).

ISBN

Once Halmstad University Press has received the signed publication terms, an ISBN is assigned to the e-version of the publication. If a printed version is requested, an ISBN can also be assigned to the printed edition. This is indicated when signing the publication terms.
