International Staff Days
We are delighted to invite you to Halmstad University’s International Staff Days, 22–24 September 2026! This page is updated regularly with the latest information about the event.

During International Staff Days 2026 at Halmstad University, we welcome colleagues from partner universities for collaborative days focused on educational development and international cooperation. The event takes place on 22–24 September 2026 in Halmstad, Sweden.
A central theme of the week is Challenge Based Learning, where participants will explore how real-world challenges can be integrated into teaching and learning. The aim is to share experiences, develop new ideas, and strengthen collaboration between our institutions.
This event provides a platform to connect educators, leaders, and staff across borders, fostering new partnerships and concrete initiatives that support innovative and student-centered education.
Preliminary programme
Tuesday, 22 September
Day one will focus on Challenge Based Learning in practice, including visits to the Halmstad University Solar Team project and lab-based learning spaces.
Hands on problem solving
The day begins with a HUST and Fab Lab introduction, including the presentation of several cases that participants can choose from.
This is followed by active, hands‑on work in and around the FabLab and the HUST garage, where participants work practically with their chosen case, supported and guided by HUST students throughout the process. The day concludes with final presentations from the case groups.
The idea is to create an interactive and inspiring format where participants combine problem‑solving, creativity, and practical work in a real‑life environment, with support from HUST students.
Wednesday, 23 September
During day two, participants will engage in workshops and discussions on key topics shaping higher education today, including digitalisation and internationalisation at home. More information to come.
Internationalisation where it matters: embedding support into the core
How do we move internationalisation from the margins to the mainstream of university life? This session explores how support for teaching and learning can be woven into the annual cycle of core operations and what that connection to internationalisation looks like in practice.
We continue with an inspirational introduction to Internationalisation at Home (IaH) as a concept and framework.
The session then puts theory into practice through a hands-on case exercise: a facilitated exchange where participating institutions share concrete examples of how they work with internationalisation today, surfacing good practice and learning from each other.

Workshop: strengthening student influence – practices from Halmstad University
This interactive workshop draws on Halmstad University’s methods for fostering student influence and promoting active student engagement. Participants will gain insight into how student perspectives are integrated into decision-making processes, course development, and quality assurance.
Through concrete examples, such as student representation, the workshop highlights practical ways to create meaningful and sustainable student participation. Interactive elements will invite participants to reflect on their own contexts and explore how similar approaches can be adapted and implemented at their home institutions.
