Next Phase Femtech project

Next Phase Femtech aims to strengthen future solutions for women’s health. For many years, women’s health has been under-prioritised in research, innovation and development. At the same time, there is growing interest in Femtech – technological and digital solutions that can improve women’s health and quality of life.

This is the background to Next Phase Femtech, a three-year Danish-Swedish collaboration designed to help innovative companies bring their solutions closer to the market.

The project aims to:

support the market readiness of new solutions in women’s health from up to 30 companies
test and validate three market-ready Femtech solutions in real-world working environments
strengthen collaboration between companies, the healthcare sector and innovation stakeholders in Denmark and Sweden.

There is a particular focus on women going through the menopause. There is a significant need for new solutions in this area – not least because the menopause can affect well-being, work capacity and the ability to remain in the labour market.

The solutions will therefore be tested amongst healthcare staff at Zealand University Hospital, Skåne University Hospital and in the municipality of Tomelilla. The healthcare sector has been chosen as the test environment because, amongst other things, it has a high proportion of female staff and encompasses a variety of working conditions.

The Research Unit within the Executive Office is the project’s Lead Partner and will collaborate with companies, healthcare stakeholders and others who wish to contribute to creating better solutions for women’s health.

The project falls under the priority area of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, and the programme-specific objective is to strengthen innovation capacity with a focus on smart specialisation.
