SIG 4 future directions: opening session
Led by Dima Khazem and Ulrich Hobusch, moderated by Albert Zeyer. The new co-coordinators introduce key themes and questions for the future development of SIG 4. Participants are warmly invited to contribute their own topics and questions. All themes gathered in this session will be carried forward and taken up again in the closing session on Friday — so that the conversation about the SIG's future genuinely frames the entire conference.

19.30: Dinner

Thursday 20 August

07.00–8.30: Breakfast

09.00: Book chapter seminar

Four book chapters are presented. Each presentation (approx. 20 min.) is followed by discussion (approx. 20 min.). Presenters are asked to explicitly address the STF in their contributions: Where does the chapter fit within the STF model? Which aspects does it support, challenge, or extend?

12.00: Workshop: STF and ESD — tensions and pathways forward

Led by Dima Khazem. An interactive workshop exploring the relationship between the STF and Education for Sustainable Development (ESD). Format: brief input on key tensions, small group discussions, group reports and collective consensus-building on possible directions for future collaboration.

13.00: Lunch

14.00–16.00: S|H|E and STF text seminar with reflection

Three of the six to seven submitted texts are presented. Each presentation (approx. 20 min.) is followed by discussion (approx. 20 min.). A brief collective reflection closes the session by 16:00.

16.00: Social time – open end

Unstructured time for informal exchange, spontaneous conversations, and shared activities (beach, games, walks). Dinner when the group is ready. These hours are not secondary to the program – they are part of it.

Friday 21 August

07.00–8.30: Breakfast

09.00: S|H|E and STF text seminar with reflection (continued)

Remaining three texts are presented and discussed. Same format as Thursday: approx. 20 min. presentation, 20 min. discussion.

11.15: Open session: dialogue, planning, and collaboration

Unstructured time for bilateral and small-group conversations among participants. Space for emerging ideas, spontaneous planning, and the kind of exchanges that rarely happen in formal sessions — including the exploration of future paper and project collaborations.

13.00: Lunch

14.00: SIG 4 future directions: closing session

Led by Dima Khazem and Ulrich Hobusch, moderated by Albert Zeyer. The themes and questions collected together on Wednesday evening — and further developed throughout the conference — are now brought back into a shared discussion. Topics include: STF positioning, ESD and One Health / EcoHealth / Planetary Health debates, SIG communication strategy, ESERA Malaga conference, and the 6th SIG conference 2028. The aim is to reach shared orientations and concrete next steps.

15.00: Coffee and farewell
