Halmstad University strengthens international collaboration in AI-driven cybersecurity
Halmstad University hosted the international workshop “AI-Driven Cybersecurity: Strengthening European Research Collaboration in AI-Enabled Cybersecurity” at the beginning of June. The event brought together around 40 researchers, students and industry experts from several countries to exchange knowledge and strengthen collaboration in AI-enabled cybersecurity.
”The new cooperation agreements also create opportunities for long-term collaboration in research and education”
Olga Torstensson, Lecturer and Programme Director

The workshop brought together researchers, doctoral students, students and industry experts from Sweden, Ukraine, Poland and Brazil.
Organised by Halmstad University’s Future Industry Research Programme (FIRP), the workshop was closely connected to the Swedish Institute-funded project “AI-Driven Cybersecurity: Opportunities and Challenges”. The event provided a platform for knowledge exchange, capacity building and the development of long-term international partnerships.
A key milestone during the workshop was the signing of three new cooperation agreements between Halmstad University and three Ukrainian partner universities: State University of Information and Communication Technologies, Ukraine; Ukraine University of Customs and Finance, Ukraine; and SET University, Ukraine.
The agreements will create new opportunities for student and staff mobility, joint research, thesis supervision, guest lectures, short courses and the development of future European research projects.
“Our workshop brought together researchers, students and industry partners to strengthen international collaboration in AI-driven cybersecurity. The new cooperation agreements also create opportunities for long-term collaboration in research and education”, says Olga Torstensson, lecturer and Programme Director for the Master’s Programme in Network Forensics.
The workshop programme included keynote lectures, student research presentations, strategic roundtable discussions, proposal development sessions for Horizon Europe and Erasmus+, an innovation panel and discussions on a future collaboration roadmap.
The workshop was organised in collaboration with industry partners SoftServe, Siemens Sweden and EPAM, as well as academic partners from Ukraine, Sweden, Poland, Romania and Brazil.
By bringing together research, education and industry, the workshop aimed to strengthen international cooperation and support the development of practical AI-enabled solutions to future cybersecurity challenges.
