Sustainability conference gathered researchers and stakeholders

How can resource efficiency, circularity and co-creation contribute to a sustainable societal shift? That was the key question when the first ProActS conference was held at Halmstad University last week. Researchers, practitioners, decision-makers and other stakeholders gathered to share knowledge and discussions cross-sectoral solutions.

“It has been three very good days with many different and exciting tracks, which have all been connected to matters relating to resource efficiency and circularity.”

“It has been three very good days with many different and exciting tracks, which have all been connected to matters relating to resource efficiency and circularity. It has also been valuable to be able to coordinate the conference with the newly formed HEROES alliance, which has contributed to attracting quite a lot of international participants”, says Marie Mattsson, Professor of Environmental Science at Halmstad University, who together with Pia Ulvenblad, Professor of Business Administration, among others, has been the driving force behind the planning of the conference.

The ProActS Conference 2026 was organised by the multidisciplinary research programme ProActS. The aim of the conference was to create a meeting point for dialogue, knowledge exchange and collaboration connected to sustainability issues. The programme included lectures, workshops, round-table discussions, a poster session and a closing panel discussion.

“This was our first conference, and we hope that it will return every other year”, says Marie Mattsson.
