Fab Lab for students
If you study at Halmstad University, you get the chance to join a creative community and makerspace in Fab Lab.
What can I do at Fab Lab?
Join a creative meeting place and makerspace on campus. Get hands-on with digital tools to:
- build on an entrepreneurship idea
- create an innovative degree project
- explore the latest in product development
- solve everyday problems in your own way
- connect with research and industry
At Fab Lab Halmstad, you have the opportunity to learn how to use digital fabrication in one of the Nordic region’s best‑equipped makerspace , for example 3D printers, 3D scanners and laser cutters and so much more.

Johan Olsson and Malin Svensson completed their thesis with the help of Fab Lab. The prototype won scholarships worth SEK 63,000.
How do I get access to Fab Lab?
There are three ways for you as a student to access Fab Lab: through a course or project, during the public opening hours, or by joining the Fablab student association.
Course or project
If you are taking a course or doing a project at Halmstad University, you can get access to Fab Lab on weekdays 08:00–20:00. In that case, you may only use the tools for course‑ or project‑related purposes. Contact your course coordinator to obtain access.
Public opening hours
Fab Lab is open to the public on Wednesdays and Thursdays 17.00–20.00. A student from Fab Lab Student will be on site to provide support and guidance on how the machines work. You will also have the chance to try using them yourself.
Note: We are closed during the Christmas/Summer break.
The Fablab Student association
As a member of Fab Lab Student, you have access to Fab Lab on weekdays 06:00–22:00. Fablab Student is a student association that runs its activities in Fab Lab Halmstad. AS a member you get access to their workshops, events and the possibility to carry out your own private projects.
