A healthier future for secondary school pupils – experiences and effects on health and school attendance
The outdoor programme ‘Friskare framtid’ (Healthier Future) is run in collaboration between the event venue ‘Vinnalt event’ and Österledsskolan school in Oskarström, a town 17 km northeast of Halmstad city centre. The programme includes nature-based teamwork exercises and spending time with animals.
Secondary school pupils aged between 12 and 19 will participate in the programme for four hours a day, three days a week, for eight weeks, starting in the autumn term of 2025. The overall aim of the project is to describe experiences and evaluate the effects of the outdoor programme ‘Healthier Future’ in terms of activity level, reduced stress and anxiety, strengthened self-esteem and self-confidence, and increased school attendance among secondary school and upper secondary school students aged 12 to 19 in terms of health and school attendance. The project has received ethical approval from the ethical review authority, ref. no. 2025-03791-01.
