Susanna Öhman, Vice-Chancellor

“It feels great that Anna Parkhouse has chosen to come to the University and LHS as Dean of School. Her interest in, and experience of, development, internationalisation and collaboration will benefit the University. I am very much looking forward to having her here”, says Halmstad University’s Vice-Chancellor Susanna Öhman.

Anna Parkhouse sees LHS and the University as an innovative environment with a great amount of positive energy. She comes directly from Dalarna University, which in many respects resembles Halmstad University, but also has some differences.

“When I applied for this assignment, I had little knowledge of Halmstad University. However, it became very clear that the University has come a long way in profiling itself and its education portfolio. Part of it is also that almost all education is on campus in Halmstad, while I come from the opposite, where the majority of the education is based on distance learning. It will be very exciting to be in this environment”, says Anna Parkhouse.

At the turn of the year, Anna Parkhouse will take up her role as Dean of the School of Education, Humanities and Social Sciences – one of four Schools at Halmstad University. She describes the assignment as both interesting and exciting. Anna Parkhouse sees the start as an educational time where she wants to learn about LHS and meet all her colleagues. She wants to focus on listening, creating a picture of where LHS is today and then seeing how the way forward can be shaped.

Passionate about internationalisation and collaboration

With many years of experience and several assignments in various councils, such as Internationalisation Manager, Anna Parkhouse is extra passionate about internationalisation.

“I am passionate about internationalisation and, with that, mainly about how to use our international contacts to increase the quality, especially in education, but also in research and in collaboration.”

Anna Parkhouse is looking forward to her new assignment and the new city. She is particularly interested in exploring the strengths of the University and building on these.

“I look forward to coming to a new place with new challenges, meeting new colleagues and gaining insight into how the University works. It will also be exciting to take part in all the strengths that the University has, including all the collaboration in both research and education.

Anna Parkhouse succeeds Måns Svensson, who has become Vice-Chancellor of Jönköping University. Helen Fuchs has served as acting Dean of School during the recruitment period.
