Innovation for Sustainable Business Development

7,5 credits

This course aims to provide a comprehensive knowledge of business sustainability. It suits you who are interested in developing knowledge about how to analyse, evaluate, and understand the environmental, social, and economic consequences of different decisions both within and outside the boundaries of business. You will learn more about sustainability strategies and business models and how different environments and cultures promote innovation for developing leaders, employees, and organisation structures. Additionally, you will increase your understanding about how and why sustainability business strategies might change over time.

The course focuses on innovation-related business development for sustainability; and how such development can be used to create societal value while simultaneously improving competitiveness among businesses and organisations. Both incremental and radical business model innovation is discussed, using real-life examples such as business modelling for developing new business scenarios. Moreover, the course provides in-depth knowledge of different organisational perspectives, such as why the organisation was established, which ideology it represents, and which factors affect the organisation (e.g. the actors themselves, the surrounding society, cultural aspects, internal power distribution, diversity, sustainability, and ethical standpoints).
