English for Pre-School Class and School Years 1-3

This course is designed for (exchange) students who are training to become Teachers of English as a Second Language for the Lower End of Primary School (Children aged 6-9). The course will provide the student with opportunities to not only develop their own productive and receptive skills in written and spoken English, but also enable them to create interactive opportunities for their future pupils that encourage them to develop an awareness of language, through the use of English, both inside the communicative classroom and outside the school environment. Based on research into second language acquisition, which encourages the teaching of languages at a young age, the student will reflect on the ways in which the Swedish Curriculum for English, with a focus on the four skills – listening, reading, writing, and speaking, can be implemented practically in the classroom.
